Panihati Chida Dahi Mahotsav in Chennai

Satya Das The Panihati Chida Dahi festival in the Sri Krishna Balaram temple on the shores of the Bay of Bengal was celebrated pompously. A grand Abhishekam for Their Lordships Sri Nitai Gauranga was followed by a discourse on the pastime of Sri Raghunath Das Goswami’s elopement to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s army. A beautiful Theppa seated Their Lordships Sri Nitai Gauranga and Srila Prabhupad and sailed around the gorgeously decorated temple kalyani several times, giving the devotees at Chennai so much joy that even denizens of heaven cannot derive. With melodious sankirtan Their Lordships were carried back to Their altar and a grand Sandhya Arati was performed. They were also offered Chida Dahi, a delicious preparation from curds and chipped rice, perfect for the humid and hot weather in Chennai. The offerings were made from various flavours like mango, banana, litchi, strawberry and many other seasonal fruits. Devotees enjoyed the feast with their heart’s content, remembering the pastimes of how Nitai Gauranga used to fill Their devotees’ mouths with sumptuous prasadam and their hearts with joy.
