Hearing from the lips of a Pure devotee-Ramananda Raya's conversation with Lord Caitanya

Ramananda Raya's conversation with Lord Caitanya

TLC 32                        Conclusion
Lord Caitanya next asked Ramananda Raya, "What is the most valuable
thing in the world?"

Ramananda Raya replied that he who has love for

Radha-Krsna possesses the most valuable jewel and the greatest riches.
One who is addicted to material sense gratification or material wealth
is not really considered to be wealthy. When one comes to the
spiritual platform of Krsna consciousness, he can understand that
there are no riches more valuable than love of Radha-Krsna. It is
recorded in Srimad-Bhagavatam that Maharaja Dhruva sought out the
Supreme Lord because he wanted to get some land, but when he finally
saw Krsna, he said, "I am so pleased, I don't want anything." In
Bhagavad-gita it is also stated that if one takes shelter of the
Supreme Personality of Godhead or is elevated to the supreme state of
love of Godhead, he has nothing more to aspire to. Although such
devotees can attain whatever they desire from the Lord, they do not
ask anything from Him.

When Lord Caitanya asked Ramananda Raya what is considered to be
the most painful existence,
 Ramananda Raya replied that separation
from a pure devotee constitutes the most painful existence. In other
words, when there is no devotee of the Lord present, there is great
suffering in society, and association with other people becomes
painful. In ▼Srimad-Bhagavatam (3.30.7) it is stated that if one who
is bereft of the association of a pure devotee tries to become happy
through society, friendship and love devoid of Krsna consciousness, he
is to be considered in the most distressed condition. In the Fifth
Canto of Brhad-bhagavatamrta (5.44) it is stated that the association
of a pure devotee is more desirable than life itself and that in
separation from him one cannot even pass a second happily.

Lord Caitanya then asked Ramananda Raya, "Out of many so-called
liberated souls, who is actually liberated?"

Ramananda replied that he who is actually completely saturated with the devotional love for Radha and Krsna is to be considered to be the best of all liberated
persons. It is stated in ▼Srimad-Bhagavatam (6.14.4) that a devotee of
Narayana is so rare that one can only find him out of millions and
millions of people.

"And out of all songs, what song do you think is the best of all?"
Caitanya Mahaprabhu asked.
And Ramananda replied that any song which
describes the pastimes of Radha and Krsna is the best song. In
conditional life, the soul is captivated by sex. All fictions--dramas
and novels--and material songs describe love between men and women.
Since people are so attracted to this kind of literature, Krsna
appeared in this material world and displayed His transcendental
loving affairs with the gopis. There is an immense literature dealing
with the transactions between the gopis and Krsna, and anyone who
takes shelter of this literature or of the stories about Radha and
Krsna can enjoy actual happiness. In Srimad-Bhagavatam (10.33.36) it
is said that the Lord displayed His pastimes in Vrndavana in order to
reveal His actual life. Any intelligent person who tries to understand
the pastimes of Radha and Krsna is most fortunate. The songs that tell
of those pastimes are the greatest songs in the world.

Lord Caitanya then inquired: "What is the most profitable thing in
the world, the essence of all auspicious events?"
Ramananda Raya replied that there is nothing as profitable as the association of pure
devotees.

"And what do you recommend a person to think of?" Lord Caitanya
asked.
Ramananda replied that one should always think of the pastimes
of Krsna. This is Krsna consciousness. Krsna has multiple activities,
and they are described in many Vedic scriptures. One should always
think of those pastimes; that is the best meditation and the highest
ecstasy. In ▼Srimad-Bhagavatam (2.2.36) Sukadeva Gosvami confirms that
one should always think of the Supreme Personality of Godhead--not
only think of Him, but one should also hear and chant His name, fame
and glories.

"And what is the best type of meditation?" Lord Caitanya inquired.

"He who always meditates on the lotus feet of Radha and Krsna is
the best meditator," Ramananda Raya answered. This is also confirmed
in ▼Srimad-Bhagavatam (1.2.14): "It is the Supreme Personality of
Godhead alone who is the master of all devotees, whose name one should
always chant and who should always be meditated upon and worshiped
regularly."

"Where should a person live, giving up all other pleasures?" Lord
Caitanya next inquired.
Ramananda replied that one should give up all
other pleasures and should live in Vrndavana where Lord Krsna had so
many pastimes. In Srimad-Bhagavatam (10.47.61) Uddhava says that it is
best to live in Vrndavana even if one has to live as a plant or
creeper. It was in Vrndavana that the Supreme Lord lived and it was
there that the gopis worshiped the Supreme Lord, the ultimate goal of
all Vedic knowledge.

"And what is the best subject to hear of?" Caitanya Mahaprabhu next
asked.
"The pastimes of Radha and Krsna," Ramananda replied. Actually when
the pastimes of Radha and Krsna are heard from the right source, one
at once attains liberation. Unfortunately it sometimes happens that
people do not hear of these pastimes from a person who is a realized
soul. Thus people are sometimes misguided. It is stated in
Srimad-Bhagavatam (10.33.40) that one who hears of the pastimes of
Krsna with the gopis will attain the highest platform of devotional
service and will be freed from the material lust which overwhelms
everyone's heart in the material world. In other words, by hearing the
pastimes of Radha and Krsna, one can get rid of all material lust. If
one does not become freed from material lust in this way, then he
should not indulge in hearing of the pastimes of Radha and Krsna.
Unless one hears from the right source, he will misinterpret the
pastimes of Radha and Krsna, considering them to be ordinary affairs
between a man and woman. In this way one may be misguided.

"And who is the most worshipable Deity?" Caitanya Mahaprabhu next
inquired.

Ramananda Raya immediately replied that the transcendental

couple, Sri Radha and Krsna, is the ultimate object of worship. There
are many worshipable objects--the impersonalists worship the
brahmajyoti, for instance--but by worshiping objects other than Radha
and Krsna, one becomes bereft of life's symptoms and becomes just like
a tree or other nonmoving entity. Those who worship the so-called void
also attain such results. Those who are after material enjoyment
(bhukti) worship the demigods and achieve their planets and thus enjoy
material happiness.

Lord Caitanya next inquired about those who are
after material happiness and liberation from material bondage. "Where
do they ultimately go?" He asked.

Ramananda Raya replied that ultimately some turn into trees and others attain the heavenly planets where they enjoy material happiness.

Ramananda Raya went on to say that those who have no taste for
Krsna consciousness or spiritual life are just like crows who take
pleasure in eating the bitter nimba fruit. It is the poetic cuckoo
that eats the seeds of the mango. The unfortunate transcendentalists
simply speculate on dry philosophy, whereas the transcendentalists who
are in love with Radha and Krsna enjoy fruit just like the cuckoo.
Thus those who are devotees of Radha and Krsna are most fortunate. The
bitter nimba fruit is not at all eatable; it is simply full of dry
speculation and is only fit for crowlike philosophers. Mango seeds,
however, are very relishable, and those in the devotional service of
Radha and Krsna enjoy them.

Thus Ramananda Raya and Caitanya Mahaprabhu talked for the entire
night. Sometimes they danced, sometimes sang and sometimes cried.
After passing the night in this way, at dawn Ramananda Raya returned
to his place. The next evening he returned to see Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
After discussing Krsna for some time, Ramananda Raya fell at the feet
of the Lord and said, "My dear Lord, You are so kind to me that You
have told me about the science of Krsna and Radharani and Their loving
affairs, the affairs of the rasa dance and Their pastimes. I never
thought that I should be able to speak on this subject matter. You
have taught me as You formerly taught the Vedas to Brahma."

Being very satisfied, Lord Caitanya smiled and showed Ramananda His

real form as the combination of Sri Radha and Krsna. Thus Lord
Caitanya was Sri Krsna Himself with the external features of Srimati
Radharani. His transcendental ability to become two and then to become
one again was revealed to Ramananda Raya. Those who are fortunate
enough to understand Lord Caitanya as well as the Vrndavana pastimes
of Radha and Krsna can be able, by the mercy of Sri Rupa Gosvami, to
know about the real identity of Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

Upon seeing this unique feature of Lord Caitanya, Ramananda Raya
fainted and fell on the floor. Lord Caitanya then touched him, and he
came to his senses. Ramananda Raya was then surprised to see Lord
Caitanya again in His mendicant dress. Lord Caitanya embraced and
pacified him and informed him that he was the only one to have seen
this form. "Because you have understood the purpose of My incarnation,
you are privileged to have seen this particular feature of My
personality," the Lord said. "My dear Ramananda, I am not a different
person with a fair complexion known as Gaurapurusa. I am the selfsame
Krsna the son of Maharaja Nanda, and due to contact with the body of

Srimati Radharani I have now assumed this form. Srimati Radharani does

not touch anyone but Krsna; therefore She has influenced Me with Her
complexion, mind and words. In this way I am just trying to understand
the transcendental flavor of Her relationship with Krsna."

The fact is that both Krsna and Lord Caitanya are the original
Personality of Godhead. No one should try to eliminate Lord Caitanya
from Sri Krsna. In His form of Sri Krsna, He is the supreme enjoyer,
and in His form of Lord Caitanya, He is the supreme enjoyed. No one
can be more superexcellently attractive than Sri Krsna, and but for
Sri Krsna, no one can enjoy the supreme form of devotion, Srimati
Radharani. But for Sri Krsna, all Visnu forms are lacking this
ability. This is explained in the description of Govinda in
Caitanya-caritamrta. There it is said that Srimati Radharani is the
only personality who can infuse Sri Krsna with transcendental
pleasure. Thus Srimati Radharani is the chief damsel of Vraja in love
with Govinda, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krsna.

You can understand this yourself and keep it to yourself. From
a materialistic point of view, a devotee becomes mad in his ecstasy of
love for Krsna. Both you and I are just like madmen. So please don't
disclose these facts to ordinary men. If you do, they will surely
laugh at Me."

Lord Caitanya then passed ten nights with Ramananda Raya, enjoyed
his company and discussed the pastimes of Krsna and Radha. The
discussions between them were on the highest level of love for Krsna.
Some of these talks are described, but most of them could not be
described.
In Caitanya-caritamrta this has been compared to
metallurgic examination. The metals compared are discussed in the
following sequence: first copper, then bronze, then silver, gold and
at last touchstone. The preliminary discussions between Lord Caitanya
and Ramananda Raya are considered to be like copper, and the higher
discussions are considered to be like gold. The fifth dimension of
their discussions, however, is considered to be like touchstone. If
one is eager to attain the highest understanding, he must begin with
an inquiry into the differences between copper and bronze, then silver
and gold and so on.

footnote--these last statements comparing different metals to sucessively higher understandings
refer to an earlier discussion between Ramananda Raya and Lord Caitanya where
5 basic ideas for Dharma were presented by Ramananda Raya beginning with- how one should
just perform his occupational duty;;next was give up all results to Krsna, then renunciation
without fruitive result; then brahman realization without fruitive work or mental speculation until finally he came to hearing from the lips of a pure devotee-which Lord Caitanya accepted as the
correct process for this age of Kali, since none of the previous methods are feasible due the implications and impurity of the age and its inhabitants..

8 proofs that Srila Prabhupada is a pure devotee of the Lord

Hare Krsna to all
Pranams
All glories to Srila Prabhupada
Below we have 8 proofs that Srila
Prabhupada is a pure devotee of the Lord. So many pretenders and cheaters today falsely
claim the status of a bona fide spiritual master, but if they do not have these
qualifications then they cannot be considered pure devotees of the Lord and
therefore not qualified to initiate anyone into the transcendental science of
bhakti yoga, or devotional service.“UNLESS ONE IS UNDER THE
SHELTER OF A REALIZED SPIRITUAL MASTER, HIS UNDERSTANDING OF THE SUPREME
IS SIMPLY FOOLISHNESS.”   Teachings of Lord Caitanya
(TLC).
"When a devotee is perfectly qualified in chanting the Transcendental vibration of the Holy
Names, he is quite fit to become  Spiritual Master  and
deliver all the people of the world." (TLC)

Prabhupada is a pure
devotee
1.) Guest (3): So, Srila Prabhupada,
have you realized God?
Srila Prabhupada: What do you think?
What is your opinion?
Guest (3): I can't say.
Srila
Prabhupada: Then if I say, "yes," then what you will understand? If you
are not yourself expert, then even if I say, "Yes, I am God realized," how you
will take it as truth? If you do not know what is God realization, then how you
can ask this question and how you will be satisfied by the answer? You do not
know.
Guest (3): Well, what is God realization?
Srila
Prabhupada: Then... Then you were asking, "Are you God realized?" If I say,
"Yes," then how you'll believe it? You do not know what is God realization. Then
why do you put this question? You do not know yourself. If I say, "Yes," how
you'll understand that I am right? Therefore you should not put all these
questions. It has no value. You do not know yourself what is God
realization. Now, just like a medical man, if he asks another man, medical man,
so if he says, "Yes," then medical man will understand him by technical terms
whether he is medical man. So unless one is medical man, what is the use of
asking another man, "Are you medical man?" Unless you are prepared to take
the answer whatever I give. Are you prepared?
Guest (3):
Yes.
Srila Prabhupada: Then it is all right. I am. I am
seeing God every moment. So unless we are prepared to take the answer, we
should not put ourself...

2.) In the Caitanya Mangala by Locana
das Thakur, pg 48,translated by Subhag swami, Lord Gauranga states-"Even if
the sinners reject religion or flee to foreign countries, still they will get
the mercy. I will sendmor senapati bhakta to go there and deliver
them.  [Mor means My; senapati means a military field commander, and bhakta
means a devotee. So Lord Caitanya will empower His own devotee to spread Krsna
Consciousness around the world.]
This was a prediction
of the appearance of Srila Prabhupada and his worldwide preaching activities
where he would travel the world over, open 108 temples, and initiate millions
into the chanting of the Holy Names of the Lord. How could this person be
anything less than a Maha Bhagavat, empowered pure devotee of Lord
Gauranga?

Letter to Andrea Temple

 "Yes, whoever
you tell the chant to, it is effective. You have heard it from me and my
disciples, similarly I have heard it from my Guru Maharaja, and so on, and
on. Because you have heard it from a pure devotee of the Lord,
therefore it is transmitted from you to another. Just as an aerial
message, is transmitted from one place to another, similarly, this Guru
parampara system is working.
My disciples are my agents, my
representatives, so by hearing it from them, you are receiving it from
me. And because you are a sincere soul, those who are hearing
the Mantra from you are receiving it in disciplic succession, from Lord Caitanya
and from Lord
Krishna."

4.)
Saturday, December 16, 1967
San Francisco, Calif.

When I left your country on the 22nd of
July, I had very little hope to come back again. But Krishna informed me that
I'm not going to die immediately; therefore, I have come back again to get
inspiration of Krishna Consciousness from you all good souls. Although
officially I am your Spiritual Master, I consider you all students as my
Spiritual Master because your love for Krishna and service for Krishna teach me
how to become a sincere Krishna Conscious person.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
5.) Yes the spiritual master is also
present in his picture, though more importantly he is present
in his teachings. I think this is explained in one letter that has already
been distributed.
Thank you very much for assisting me in this
way. Hope this finds you in good health.

6.) 70-06-21.Tam             Letter: Tamala Krsna
So far I am concerned, I cannot
say what I was in my previous life,  but one great astrologer calculated that I was previously
a physician and my life was
sinless. Besides that, to corroborate the statement of Bhagavad-gita "sucinam srimatam gehe yogabhrasta
samyayate" which means an unfinished
yogi takes birth in rich family or born of a suci or pious father. By the grace of Krsna I got these two
opportunities in the present life to
be born of a pious father and brought up in one of the richest, aristocratic families of Calcutta
(Kasinath Mullick). The Radha
Krsna Deity in this family called me to meet Him, and therefore last time when I was in Calcutta, I stayed in
that temple along with my American
disciples. Although I had immense opportunities to indulge in the four principles of sinful life because
I was connected with a very
aristocratic family, Krsna always saved me,and throughout my whole life I do not know what is illicit
sex,intoxication, meat-eating
or gambling. So far my present life is concerned, I do not remember any part of my life
when I was forgetful of Krsna.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.) SB
2.3.15 P  But Maharaja Pariksit
was more than that because he had been a
great devotee of the Lord
since his previous birth, and as such he took his
birth in an imperial
family of the Kurus, and especially that of the
Pandavas. So from the
very beginning of his childhood he had the chance to
know intimately
the devotional service of Lord Krsna in his own family.
The Pandavas,
all being devotees of the Lord, certainly venerated family
Deities in
the royal palace for worship. Children who appear in such
families
fortunately generally imitate such worship of the Deities, even in
the
way of childhood play. By the grace of Lord Sri Krsna, we had
the
chance of being born in a Vaisnava family, and in our childhood
we
imitated the worship of Lord Krsna by imitating our father. Our
father
encouraged us in all respects to observe all functions such as
the
Ratha-yatra and Dola-yatra ceremonies, and he used to spend
money
liberally for distributing prasada to us children and our friends.
Our
spiritual master, who also took his birth in a Vaisnava family,
got
all inspirations from his great Vaisnava father, Thakura
Bhaktivinoda.
That is the way of all lucky Vaisnava families. The celebrated
Mira
Bai was a staunch devotee of Lord Krsna as the great lifter
of
Govardhana Hill.   The life history of many such
devotees is almost the same because
there is always symmetry between the
early lives of all great devotees
of the Lord. According to Jiva
Gosvami, Maharaja Pariksit must have
heard about the childhood pastimes of
Lord Krsna at Vrndavana, for he
used to imitate the pastimes with his young
playmates. According to
Sridhara Svami, Maharaja Pariksit used to imitate the
worship of the
family Deity by elderly members. Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti
also
confirms the viewpoint of Jiva Gosvami. So accepting either of
them,
Maharaja Pariksit was naturally inclined to Lord Krsna from his
very
childhood. He might have imitated either of the
above-mentioned
activities, and all of them establish his great devotion from
his very
childhood, a symptom of a maha-bhagavata. Such
maha-bhagavatas are
called nitya-siddhas, or souls liberated from
birth.
----------------------------------------------------
8.) SB 4.18.5   A foolish person who manufactures his
own ways and means through mental speculation and does not recognize the
authority of the sages who lay down unimpeachable directions is simply
unsuccessful again and again in his attempts.
PURPORT -   At the present moment it has
become fashionable to disobey the unimpeachable directions given by the
acaryas and liberated souls of the past. Presently people are so fallen that they cannot distinguish between a liberated soul and a conditioned soul.
A conditioned soul is hampered by four defects: he is sure to commit mistakes,
he is sure to become illusioned, he has a tendency to cheat others, and his
senses are imperfect. Consequently we have to take direction from liberated
persons. This Krsna consciousness movement directly receives instructions
from the Supreme personality of Godhead via persons (Srila
Prabhupada) who are strictly following His instructions.
Although a follower may not be a liberated person, if he follows the supreme,
liberated Personality of Godhead, his actions are naturally liberated from the
contamination of the material nature. Lord Caitanya therefore says: "By My order
you (Srila Prabhupada) may become a spiritual master." One can
immediately become a spiritual master by having full faith in the transcendental
words of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and by following His
instructions. Materialistic men are not interested in taking directions from
a liberated person, but they are very much interested in their own concocted
ideas, which make them repeatedly fail in their attempts. Because the
entire world is now following the imperfect directions of conditioned souls,
humanity is completely bewildered.
Conclusions--
In
number 1 Prabhupada tells us he is seeing God at every moment.
Number
2-The divine appearance and activities of Srila Prabhupada, a saktyavesh
avatar, is made in the 16th century by a great devotee of Lord
Gauranga.
In
number 3 he tells us that when we hear his messages we are hearing them from
a pure devotee of the Lord.
Number 4
he tells us that Lord Krsna directly spoke to him about how long he had to live.
Number
5 he tells us that he is actually present in his picture or
photograph. What kind of person has this power, but a pure devotee?
Number 6, he says that a famous Indian astrologer told him he was without
sins in his previous life and Srila Prabhupada personally says that in this
life, there never was a time that he forgot Lord Krsna.  Number 7 he
tells us that there is always some kind of symmetry in the early lives of
pure devotees and their later lives. This means they are born into very
pious pure devotee families.
And lastly, number 8 , he tells us that this Krsna Conscious movement
(namely all of us) are directly getting instructions from the Supreme Lord thru
him, Srila Prabhupada. Just like the demigods got instructions for their work
thru Lord Brahma, when they all went to Svetadvipa and chanted the Purusha sukta
prayers to Lord Visnu, then Lord Visnu spoke His instructions thru the heart of
Lord Brahma and he then gave those same instructions to all the attending
demigods present.

So if anyone is aspiring to have a bonafide spiritual master direct him ,
then he needs to have these above qualifications-otherwise you can be sure
without these few mentioned above (and there are many more) you have a
"counterfeit guru". So dont be cheated, take shelter at the lotus feet of a pure
devotee of the Lord, A C Bhaktivedanta  Swami Srila
Prabhhupada.!!

HEARING THE RECITATION OF A PURE DEVOTEE

TRANSLATION. ‘One should taste the meaning of Srimad-Bhagavatam in the association of pure devotees, and one should associate with the devotees who are more advanced than oneself and endowed with a similar type of affection for the Lord.

PURPORT. The words sajatiyasaye snigdhe sadhau sangah svato vare are very important items. One should not associate with professional Bhagavatam reciters. A professional Bhagavatam reciter is one who is not in the disciplic succession or one who has no taste for bhakti-yoga. Simply on the strength of grammatical knowledge and word jugglery, professional reciters maintain their bodies and their desires for sense gratification by reading Srimad-Bhagavatam. One should also avoid those who are averse to Lord Visnu and His devotees, those who are Mayavadis, those who offend the chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra, those who simply dress as Vaisnavas or so-called gosvamis, and those who make a business by selling Vedic mantras and reciting Srimad-Bhagavatam to maintain their families. One should not try to understand Srimad-Bhagavatam from such materialistic people. According to the Vedic injunctions: yasya deve para bhaktih. The Srimad-Bhagavatam can only be recited by one who has unflinching faith in the lotus feet of Krsna and His devotee, the spiritual master. One should try to understand Srimad-Bhagavatam from the spiritual master. The Vedic injunction states: bhak- tya bhagavatam grahyam na buddhya na ca tikaya. One has to understand Srimad-Bhagavatam through the process of devotional service and by hearing the recitation of a pure devotee. These are the injunctions of Vedic literature--sruti and smrti. Those who are not in the disciplic succession and who are not pure devotees cannot understand the real mysterious objective of Srimad-Bhagavatam and Srimad Bhagavad-Gita.

(C.C. Mad 22-131)

Hearing from Srila Prabhupada

It is stated, therefore, that all men should take advantage of hearing from realized souls and gradually become able to understand everything. The worship of the Supreme Lord will then undoubtedly take place. Lord Caitanya has said that in this age no one needs to change his position, but one should give up the endeavor to understand the Absolute Truth by speculative reasoning. One should learn to become the servant of those who are in knowledge of the Supreme Lord. If one is fortunate enough to take shelter of a pure devotee, hear from him about self-realization and follow in his footsteps, one will be gradually elevated to the position of a pure devotee. In this verse particularly, the process of hearing is strongly recommended, and this is very appropriate. Although the common man is often not as capable as so-called philosophers, faithful hearing from an authoritative person will help one transcend this material existence and go back to Godhead, back to home.

The pure devotee has no actual chance to fall down

The devotee, in the beginning, may sometimes fall from the standard, but still he should be considered superior to all other philosophers and yogis. One who always engages in Kṛṣṇa consciousness should be understood to be a perfectly saintly person. His accidental nondevotional activities will diminish, and he will soon be situated without any doubt in complete perfection. The pure devotee has no actual chance to fall down, because the Supreme Godhead personally takes care of His pure devotees. [BG.9.34]

Guror ajna

By:
 Yashodanandana Dasa (Los Angeles, California)
Dependence on the mercy of the spiritual master
“You always have my blessings; the father always wishes that the son may be more successful than himself. This is the spiritual conception. If one is doing well, then the materialistic persons become envious and try to check his progress. This was actually so with Prahlada Maharaja, he was only 5 years old, he was preaching Krishna consciousness to his school friends, and the father Hiranyakashipu became so envious that he attempted to kill his 5 year old son in so many ways. Krishna consciousness is just the opposite, if someone is doing well then the attitude of the devotee is to give him all facility to go on and improve more and more. Yes we are running on the mercy of the spiritual master, to understand this point is to get mercy more and more. Yasya prasadat bhagavata prasada.”
Letter to Yogeshchandra, Vrindaban, December 7, 1975
Maryada- vyatikrama
One should not impertinently surpass a greater personality.
“Although one may be well versed in the transcendental science, one should be careful about the offense of maryada-vyatikrama, or impertinently surpassing a greater personality. According to scriptural injunction one should be very careful of transgressing the law of maryada-vyatikrama because by so doing one loses his duration of life, his opulence, fame and piety and the blessings of all the world. To be well versed in the transcendental science necessitates awareness of the techniques of spiritual
science. Uddhava, being well aware of all these technicalities of transcendental science, advised Vidura to approach Maitreya Rishi to receive transcendental knowledge. Vidura wanted to accept Uddhava as his spiritual master, but Uddhava did not accept the post because Vidura was as old as Uddhava’s father and therefore Uddhava could not accept him as his disciple, especially when Maitreya was present nearby. The rule is that in the presence of a higher personality one should not be very eager to impart instructions, even if one is competent and well versed.”
- Srimad Bhagavatam 3.4.26, purport
Seeing senior god brothers as a spiritual master.
Only one initiating spiritual master.
One who is purely teaching what my spiritual master taught.
“To answer your last point, one who teaches can be treated as Spiritual Master. It is not that after we become initiated we become perfect. No. It requires teaching. So if we take instruction from them, all senior god brothers may be treated as guru, there is no harm. Actually, you have only one Spiritual Master, who initiates you, just as you have only one father. But every Vaishnava should be treated as prabhu, master, higher than me, and in this sense, if I learn from him, he may be regarded as guru. It is not that I disobey my real Spiritual Master and call someone else as Spiritual Master. That is wrong. It is only that I can call Spiritual Master someone who is teaching me purely what my initiating Spiritual Master has taught. Do you get the sense?”
-  Letters of Srila Prabhupada, to Sri Galim, November 20, 1971
Service of pure devotee.
First condition of devotional service.
Way of pure disciplic succession.
“There is a common saying that one should first love the dog of the beloved before one shows any loving sentiments for the beloved. The stage of pure devotion is attained by sincerely serving a pure devotee of the Lord. The first condition of devotional service to the Lord is therefore to be a servant of a pure devotee, and this condition is fulfilled by the statement ‘reception of the dust of the lotus feet of a pure devotee who has also served another pure devotee.’ That is the way of pure disciplic succession, ordevotional parampara.”
- Srimad Bhagavatam 2.3.23, purport
“Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu then continued speaking to Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya: ‘Consider this point. The servant of the spiritual master is always respectable for Me.’”
- Chaitanya Charitamrita Madhya-lila 10.142
“… [Prahlada] considered his teachers, spiritual masters and older God brothers to be as good as the Supreme Personality of Godhead….”

Vedic knowledge is received through the parampara system of pure devotees

To those of you ...who don't accept Srila Prabhupada’s ritvik/diksha initiation system… You just have to give up your big egos and believe in the words/instructions of your spiritual master. For once in your lives admit that there may be some one that is smarter than you (Srila Prabhupada). This system is the ONLY way that Iskcon could have survived as a united cohesive preaching unit. But since the philosophical deviations of the GBC/leaders and the subsequent introduction of the bogus 2/3 voted in kanistha zonal guru system, Iskcon has degraded into something that wasn't part of Srila Prabhupada’s vision for it. As a result we have the Iskcon we have today ...
Guru or the spiritual master means pure devotee.
- Lecture, Bhagavad-gita, Los Angeles, November 25, 1968
So if you can approach such PURE DEVOTEE... As it is stated in the Brahma-samhita, adurlabham atma-bhaktau. This is atma-bhaktau, a PURE DEVOTEE. He can deliver you Krishna. “Take Krishna. Here is Krishna.” Krishna-prema...
- Lecture, Bhagavad-gita 4.5, Bombay, March 25, 1974
The sravana-kirtana is the beginning of Krishna conscious life. One who is very fortunate, he’s in meeting, he meets somebody who is a PURE DEVOTEE and accepts him as his spiritual master. Therefore here it is stated, mayy asakta-manah partha yogam yunjan mad-asrayah. One has to take shelter of a bonafide spiritual master...... And if he cultivates this Krishna consciousness under the direction of a spiritual master, asraye lana bhaje, Krishna tare nahi tyaje.(?) Krishna does not reject him. Krishna accepts him. Srila Vishvanatha Chakravarti Thakura says, yasya prasadad bhagavat-prasado yasyaprasadan na gatih kuto ’pi.
- Lecture, Bhagavad-gita 7.1-2, Bombay, March 28, 1971
So guru is helping from inside and from outside. Antar-bahih. So Krishna is so kind. Therefore Krishna manifests Himself as spiritual master. Therefore Vishvanatha Chakravarti Thakura says, saksad-dhari, saksad-dharitvena samasta-sastraih. Manifestation of empowered. One who IS PURE DEVOTEE, he's EMPOWERED BY KRISHNA to act as spiritual master. Therefore spiritual master should be accepted: saksad-dharitvena samasta-sastrair uktah.
- Lecture, Bhagavad-gita 7.9 Vrindavan, August 15, 1974
Revati-nandana: ........ Sometimes this question comes up, with the devotees especially, that it says the devotee makes advancement when the spiritual master is pleased. Right? So sometimes the spiritual master is far, far away. He may be in Los Angeles. Somebody is coming to Hamburg temple. He thinks, “How will the spiritual master be pleased?”
Srila Prabhupada: Just follow his order. Spiritual master is along with you by his words. Just like my spiritual master is not physically present, but I am associating with him by his words.
Revati-nandana: And Krishna knows that; therefore we make advancement. He is sitting in our heart. He knows what we’re doing. So He sees, “He’s serving My pure devotee,” immediately there is advancement.
Srila Prabhupada: Yes. Spiritual master..., Krishna is not limited. It is not material. You can associate with Krishna and the spiritual master in any circumstance, provided you want two things. Just like we can associate with Krishna immediately if we take Bhagavad-gita as it is. He is not different from Bhagavad-gita. Nama-rupe kali-kale Krishna-avatara. Krishna is incarnated in His name in this age. You associate with Krishna’s name, immediately associate with Krishna.
Dhananjaya: And His devotees.
Srila Prabhupada: Yes. [break]
- Lecture, Srimad Bhagavatam, 1.1.2 , London, August 18, 1971
This word mad-asrayah is very important, because you cannot increase your attachment for Krishna without being mad-asrayah. Mad-asrayah means to be directly under the direction of Krishna or to be directly under the direction of somebody who has taken shelter of Krishna. Therefore He recommends mad-asrayah. You cannot execute the yoga system, devotional service, bhakti-yoga, without being under the control of somebody who is under the control of Krishna. Srila Sukadeva Gosvami has recommended therefore, yad upasrayasraya. One has to take shelter of a pure devotee; then he becomes purified. Yad upasraya. Upasraya means to take shelter of a pure devotee.
- Lecture, Sanand, December 27, 1975
Kirata-hunandhra-pulinda-pulkasa abhira-sumbha yavanah khasadayah ye ’nye ca papah. “Even there are still more low-grade, sinful society,” ye ’nye ca papa yad-apasrayasrayah, “if he takes the shelter of a pure devotee, sudhyanti, becomes purified.” Becomes purified. How? Sudhyanti? Because prabhavisnave namah. Lord Vishnu has got so exalted power that through His devotee He can purify anyone. Never mind, even one happens to be chandala, and what to speak of others. Kim punar brahmanah punya bhakta rajarsayas tatha [Bg. 9.33]. If they can be delivered, then what to speak those who are brahmanas.
- Lecture, Srimad Bhagavatam, 1.7.28-29 Vrindavan, September 25, 1976
These are mentioned, papa-yoni. And less than them, if there are still papa-yoni, sudhyanti yad-apasrayasrayah, if such persons take shelter of a pure devotee, he’s sudhyanti. This is the shastric injunction. He becomes purified because the pure devotee knows how to purify the papa-yoni. He knows.
- Lecture, Srimad Bhagavatam, 1.8.25, Vrindavan, October 5, 1974
Therefore nobody can understand Krishna without being trained up by a self-realized devotee. If a... If one takes the shelter of Krishna’s representative, devotee, then it doesn’t matter what he is. Kirata-hunandhra-pulinda-pulkasa abhira-sumbha yavanah khasadayah, ye ’nye ca papa yad-apasrayasrayah. If he has taken shelter of a pure devotee—never mind he’s a kirata, huna, andhra, pulinda, pulkasa—he is sudhyanti.
- Lecture, Srimad Bhagavatam, 1.8.44 Mayapur, October 24, 1974
Shastra says that you should approach to a bhagavata, a devotee who is living in Vrndavana, pure devotee, and surrender unto him.
- Lecture, Srimad Bhagavatam, 2.1.1, Vrindavan, March 16, 1974
Only by the grace of the divine personalities, THE PURE DEVOTEES OF THE LORD, can one attain pure devotion, which is the highest perfection of human life. ONLY A PURE DEVOTEE OF THE LORD can show one the right way of progressive life.
- Lecture, Srimad Bhagavatam, 2.3 11-12, Los Angeles May 29, 1972
Therefore Chaitanya Mahaprabhu recommended to study Srimad-Bhagavatam from bhagavatam. Bhagavata para giya bhagavata sthane. Bhagavata means the grantha-bhagavata, book bhagavata... Bhagavata means about Krishna. Bhagavan is Krishna. And anything in relationship with Krishna is called Bhagavata. So the devotee is also in relationship with Krishna. He is also called bhagavata. Maha-bhagavata. Those who are highly advanced, or first-class devotees, they are called maha-bhagavata. So this Bhagavatam, it is the essence of the Vedic knowledge and when it is received through the parampara system of pure devotee, then it becomes still more sweet than before. That is the purport.
- Lecture, Srimad Bhagavatam,  2.9.1, Tokyo, April 20, 1972
A Vaishnava never commits any sinful activities, and whatever he had done in the past, that is also finished. This is said by Krishna. Or in other words, if you devoutly engage yourself in the service of the Lord, then certainly you are freed from all reaction of sinful activities.
So how it is possible? Yatha Krishnarpita-pranah. Pranah, pranair arthair dhiya vaca. Prana, prana means life. One who has dedicated his life to the service of Krishna, such person. How this dedication of life to Krishna’s service can be made possible? That is also stated here: tat-purusa-nisevaya. You have to take shelter of a person who is a devotee of Krishna, and you have to serve. That means you HAVE TO ACCEPT A DEVOTEE,A TRUE DEVOTEE, A PURE DEVOTEE AS YOUR GUIDE. THAT IS OUR PROCESS. Rupa Gosvami says in the Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu, “The first process is, first step is adau gurvasrayam to accept guru.” Accept guru MEANS KRISHNA REPRESENTITIVE. One who is NOT KRISHNA’S representative, HE CANNOT BECOME GURU. Guru DOES NOT MEAN ANY NONSENSE CAN BECOME GURU. NO. ONLY TAT-PURUSA. Tat-purusa means a person who has accepted the Supreme Personality of Godhead as everything. TAT-PURUSA-NISEVAYA. THAT MEANS VAISHNAVA, PURE DEVOTEE.(!!!!!!!!!!!!)
- Lecture, Srimad Bhagavatam, 6.1.16 Denver, June 29, 1975
Any question?
Devotee (1): Does one have to be a pure devotee to be a...? The twelve authorities, are they all pure devotees?
Srila Prabhupada: Why do you ask this question? YOU HAVE NO SENSE. WITHOUT PURE DEVOTEE, WHO THEY BECAME AUTHORITY? You are ask the question, “Is Mr. Rockefeller a rich man?” Your question is like that. He is known a very rich man, and he has foundation. If you ask, “Is he a rich man?” is that very intelligent question? UNLESS PURE DEVOTEE, HOW  THEY ARE AUTHORIZED?
- Lecture, Srimad Bhagavatam, 63,18-19, Gorakhpur, December 2, 1971
Therefore one has to take shelter of a PURE DEVOTEE. That is the only solution. He says, naisam matis tavad urukramangrhim. The beginning was that “They are not interested in Krishna consciousness.” Then how to become Krishna conscious if that is the solution? Then Prahlada Maharaja says, naisam matis tavad: “So long one does not approach a pure devotee,” mahiyasam niskincananam, “great personalities, who has no more any material interest,” niskincana, “and takes the dust of his lotus feet on the head...” Naisam matis tavad urukramanghrim: “So long one does not approach such personality, there is no possibility of becoming Krishna conscious.” Naisam matis tavad urukramanghrim. As soon as one approaches the pure devotee and takes the dust of his lotus feet and puts it on his head, immediately, anartha apagamah, he’ll be freed from all this nonsense. That means he’ll forget this idea that “Materially we can advance.” This is the process. So we have to approach a niskincana, who has nothing to do with this material world. His only ambition is to serve more Krishna. And if somebody approaches him and takes the dust of his lotus feet, then he can understand. Mahiyasam pada-rajo-’bhisekam niskincananam na vrnita yavat.
- Lecture, Srimad Bhagavatam, 7.5.23-24, Vrindavan, March 31, 1976
But Pancharatrika-vidhi offers facility even persons who are lower than these striya, shudra, vaishya. Kirata-hunandhra-pulinda-pulkasa abhira-sumbha yavanah khasadayah, ye ’nye ca papa. And less than that, ye ’nye ca papa yad-apasrayasrayah... A devotee, a pure devotee of the Lord, and if these persons take shelter of a pure devotee of the Lord, then sudhyanti—they become purified by following the INJUNCTION OF THE SPIRITUAL MASTER. He knows how to deal with them, how to elevate them to the brahminical position. So that is not artificial. Shastra says, Bhagavata says, “Yes. By such expert management these kirata-hunandhra, lower than the shudras, sudhyanti...” Sudhyanti.
- Lecture, Srimad Bhagavatam, 7.6.7, Vrindavan, September 12, 1975

Unless pure devotee, how they are authorized?

Devotee (1): Does one have to be a pure devotee to be a...? The twelve authorities, are they all pure devotees?
Prabhupāda: Why do you ask this question? You have no sense. Without pure devotee, how they became authority? You are ask the question, "Is Mr. Rockefeller a rich man?" Your question is like that. He is known a very rich man, and he has foundation. If you ask, "Is he a rich man?" is that very intelligent question? Unless pure devotee, how they are authorized?
Lecture on SB 6.3.18-19 -- Gorakhpur, February 12, 1971
----------------------------------------
Srila Prabhupada is clearly saying unless one is a pure devotee he can never be authorized. So Srila Prabhupada never authorized the initial 11 to become  regular gurus. As none of them was a pure devotee.History has shown us how mostly all fell down and till today the gurus are falling down one by one.So by this it is clear they never were pure devotee as pure devotee never falls down under any circumstance.
"THERE IS NO POSSIBILITY THAT A FIRST-CLASS DEVOTEE WILL FALL DOWN, EVEN THOUGH HE MAY MIX WITH NONDEVOTEES TO PREACH"
Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Madhya-Lila 22.71

SRILA PRABHUPADA ONLY APPOINTED THEM AS RITVIKS NOTHING ELSE

Saturday, 21 January 2012

Pure devotee cannot fall down

“It should be understood that a madhyama-adhikari, a second-class devotee, is fully convinced of Krishna consciousness but cannot support his convictions with sastric reference. A neophyte may fall down by associating with nondevotees because he is not firmly convinced and strongly situated. The second-class devotee, even though he cannot support his position with sastric reference, can gradually become a first-class devotee by studying the sastras and associating with a first-class devotee. However, if the second-class devotee does not advance himself by associating with a first-class devotee, he makes no progress. THERE IS NO POSSIBILITY THAT A FIRST-CLASS DEVOTEE WILL FALL DOWN, EVEN THOUGH HE MAY MIX WITH NONDEVOTEES TO PREACH. Conviction and faith gradually increase to make one anuttama-adhikari, a first-class devotee.”
Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Madhya-Lila 22.71

Hear from a pure devotee Srila Prabhupada

For a conditioned soul, therefore, it is very important to hear from the mouth of a pure devotee, who is fully surrendered to the lotus feet of the Lord without any material desire, speculative knowledge or contamination of the modes of material nature. Every one of us is kuyogi because we have engaged in the service of this material world, forgetting our eternal relationship with the Lord as His eternal loving servants.
It is our duty to rise from the kuyoga platform to become suyogis, perfect mystics.

The process of hearing from a pure devotee is recommended in all Vedic scriptures, especially by Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. One may stay in his position of life—it does not matter what it is—but if one hears from the mouth of a pure devotee, he gradually comes to the understanding of his relationship with the Lord and thus engages in His loving service, and his life becomes completely perfect.
Therefore, this process of hearing from the mouth of a pure devotee is very important for making progress in the line of spiritual understanding.

Guru Tattva - The Big Picture

By:
Damaghosa Dasa, Seattle, USA
1) Just like Krsna can be present simultaneously in millions of places, similarly the spiritual master also can be present wherever the disciple wants. A spiritual master is the principle, not the body. Just like a television can be seen in thousands of places by the principle or relay monitoring.(letter may 28 1968)
So in this statement it is very clear that Srila Prabhupada is telling us in this "big picture quote" that  the bona fide guru is NOT that physical body, but thru some physical body or NO body he can act just like TV is seen in thousands of places. So this one quote alone destroys the "living guru" nonsense idea. You  cannot show me one quote anywhere where he says you need a physically living diksa guru. But here, he clearly tells us that the guru is NOT the body but a principle. Not only does the bona fide guru not need a physical body to deliver Krsna, but he can appear wherever the disciple wants or needs him to. The guru is the principle not the body clearly is telling us that the Divine spirit of God can be experienced thru the disciplic sucession, whether in a physical body or no physical body. Otherwise how could so many thousands of disciples who never saw Prabhupada receive inspiration on a daily basis? And this inspiration goes on even after he physically has left our mortal material vision thru divine sound. And how could these thousands also receive diksa without the presence of a physical body in front of them and the sacred fire? Again, "spiritual master is not the body, but the principle." And that "principle" is what is living not the body.
2)  a."The potency of transcendental sound is never minimized because the vibrator is absent.(SB 2.9.8)
b.So we should associate by vibration and not by the physical presence. That is real association. (SPL aug 18,1968)
c.Threfore we should take advantage of the vani, not the physical presence, because the vani continues to exist eternally. (Nov 4, 1975)
These three statements clearly show which is more important , the guru in a physical form or the guru in the presence of Transcendental SOUND. And there are many more just like these.
3) Regarding parampara system: there is nothing to wonder for big gaps. Just like we belong to the Brahma Sampradaya, so we accept it from Krishna to Brahma, Brahma to Narada, Narada to Vyasadeva, Vyasadeva to Madhva, and between Vyasadeva and Madhva there is a big gap. But it is sometimes said that Vyasadeva is still living, and Madhva was fortunate enough to meet him directly. In a similar way, we find in the Bhagavad-gita that the Gita was taught to the sungod, some millions of years ago, but Krishna has mentioned only three names in this parampara system--namely, Vivasvan, Manu, and Iksvaku; and so these gaps do not hamper from understanding the parampara system. We have to pick up the prominent acaryas, and follow from him. There are many branches also from the parampara system, and it is not possible to record all the branches and sub-branches in the disciplic succession. We have to pick up from the authority of the acharya in whatever sampradaya we belong to.
Letter to Dayananda - San Francisco 12 April, 1968
So in this letter again we find Srila Prabhupada explaining the "big picture". Your lost in some city, but if you know where you should be, you just ask people, especially those who would know, how do I get to this place/person? Once Prabhupada disappears to our mortal vision, this is not a problem for future generations, because they only have to pick up the most recent prominent acarya and follow him.And if he is prominent, he will NOT be hard to find.  Very simple and very clearly explained. Srila Prabhupada is the most recent  prominent acarya, therefore we must follow him for that alone is sufficient for our spiritual lives. Even Christians today can become disciples of Christ if they follow him and his teachings--Prabhupada
clearly explained this in Seattle back in 1968. But you will never find a Christian priest today claiming he has been ordered by Jesus to accept new disciples. But the priests DO accept and teach new disciples in the NAME of Jesus. And everyone accepts and understands it is JESUS who is the one who is taking their sins, and delivering them.
4) Reporter (2): What will happen to the movement in the United States
when you die?
Prabhupada: I will never die.
Devotees: Jaya! Hari bol! (laughter)
Prabhupada: I shall live for my books, and you will utilize.
Reporter (2): Are you training a successor?
Prabhupada: Yes, my Guru Maharaja is there. Where is my photo of Guru
Maharaja? I think... Here is.
So again here Srila Prabhupada explains the  spiritual master is the principle, not the body idea of what and who is Guru. Otherwise how do you explain how the movement can go on since he is telling us he will never die, but live from his books which all of us will utilize-eternally if need be. The problem arises when the foolish neophyte disciples "kill the guru" by trying to take his place. And so ends the disciplic sucession,at that point because nobody can become guru unless he is authorized and qualified.
The movement will continue, if for nothing else, simply because of Prabhupadas books And in the above, he says, the successor is his guru maharaj (not even him, taking the humble position) And Why is  Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Maharaj the successor? Because he is the most recent prominent link in the param para. Our Prabhupada is just being humble here and giving all credit for the continuance to his guru maharaj.
5) Why this Gaudiya Matha failed? Because they tried to become more than guru. He, before passing away, he gave all direction and never said that "This man should be the next acarya." But ... the failure. They never thought, "Why Guru Maharaja gave us instruction so many things, why he did not say that this man should be acarya?" They wanted to create artificially somebody ... with common sense that if Guru Maharaja wanted to appoint somebody as acarya, why did he not say? He said so many things, and this point he missed? The real point?
And they insist upon it. They declared some unfit person to become acarya. Then another
....
Room Conversation - August 16, 1976, Bombay
This is a very clear explanation of what NOT to do after our acarya leaves our vision. If you want to fail, then appoint, elect, create an acarya board, etc or whatever you fantasize, but none of it will work. Why not? Because none of these things were the order of Srila Prabhupada. Also important in this statement is the idea that Srila  Bhaktisiddhanta Maharaj would not leave this world AND leave the continuation of his Gaudiya matha UNCLEAR to his disciples. And because  Srila Prabhupada is bringing up this point, then why would HE also leave the continuation of HIS movement UNCLEAR?? Prabhupada never left anything unclear and would ask his disciples several times in a conversation --"Is that clear"? So this most important thing, "THE REAL POINT" how the movement would go on, he left --THIS UNCLEAR?? What an absurd idea and proposition.
6) 23.  If everyone just initiates then there will only be a contradictory result. As long as it goes on there will be only failure.
Phalguna Krishna Pancami
This is what we have going on right now--anybody who can gather by threats, by politics or  bribes of prasadam, enough votes from the GBC, he or she can be elected as GURU of iskcon. Wheres the "tradition" for this action? So the Gaudiya matha failed for this reason. Failed means not having some buildings to "show" a Deity, but failed means- the  vigorous preaching activity stopped.  And why did the preaching stop?
Because men who were less than neophytes or kanistha at best, occupied the seat meant for Uttama adhikaris. When people win the lottery, most of the time, this huge increase in wealth ruins their personal lives. Why? Because they are not ready for it, nor know how to handle Laxsmi, so because their hearts are unclean, this wealth and prestige takes them down the road to hell. Where is the magnificent  original 11 today? This is why Srila Prabhupada warned his Godbrothers and us his disciples and followers today, NOT to take this path of "thinking" we are qualified to take on karma and deliver souls back to Godhead without the qualifications. The result is only FAILURE,as he says, as we have sadly seen.
7) ..He never recommended anyone to be acarya of the Gaudiya Math. But Sridhara Maharaja is responsible for disobeying this order of Guru Maharaja, and he ... the acarya is being changed three times a year. Therefore we may not commit the same mistake in our ISKCON camp. Actually amongst my Godbrothers no one is qualified to become acarya....
Letter to Rupanuga - Tirupati 28 April,1974
How can Srila Prabhupada make this any more clear?? Only personal ambition can cloud the proper understanding of these crystal clear words from our Acarya.
8) Satsvarupa: By the votes of the present GBC. Then our next question concerns initiations in the future, particularly at that time when you're no longer with us. We want to know how first and second initiation would be conducted. Prabhupada: Yes. I shall recommend some of you. After this is settled up, I shall recommend some of you to act as officiating acaryas.
Tamala Krsna: Is that called rtvik-acarya?
Prabhupada: Rtvik, yes
Conversation - May 28th, 1977, Vrindavana
So here a one pointed question is asked of Srila Prabhupada-what will happen in the future when you are no longer with us?? He clearly states, he wants disciples to act, just like priests do in the Christian religion, as brahmanas do in the Ramanuja and Madhva sampradayas today, as representatives of him the Acarya of the Hare Krsna Movement, called iskcon. This is called ritviks or priests. And these ritviks are the same devotees who were doing the exact same activity as they were doing before Prabhupada called them "ritviks" in this conversation.  The only difference is that nobody knew or heard of this word-ritvik at that time. The actions of the ritviks were to be the exact same actions they were doing before when initiating new candidates all over the world on BEHALF of Srila Prabhupada.
The only difference now is that eveyone knew what their TITLE was--a ritvik priest who acts on behalf of the Acarya. That is the only difference
9) I wish that each and every Branch shall keep their independent identity and cooperate keeping the Acarya in the centre. on this principle we can open any number of branches....
Letter to Kirtanananda - San Francisco 11 February, 1967
This is a very instructive letter given to us because Prabhupada is not only telling us how to continue his movement spiritually, but also how to organize it on the mundane level in relation to government and financial problems which could arise in the future. If the whole Hare Krsna movement was consolidated as one huge corporation, then the failure of one could bring financial ruin to all temples. Therefore, this insturction is given. Practical and spiritual all in one.  Maximum solution minimum words. He never said each temple could have several acaryas/gurus because that is what happened to his old Gaudiya matha, and they failed. So why would he duplicate a failed policy in his movement? He didnt and thats why we have this instruction. And not only that, but the movement would GROW by this method as more temples could be added to the movement IF the acarya was in the center.
10) .... When one has attained the topmost position of maha-bhagavata, he is to be accepted as a guru and worshiped exactly like Hari, the Personality of Godhead. Only such a person is eligible to occupy the post of a guru.
Caitanya Critamrita, Madhaya-lila 24.330
How can anybody but an uttama adhikari even think of becomming guru? Only if he or she is a CHEATER. We have all read this quote, but what "gurus" in iskcon follows it? None of them. Another side point is that an actual bona fide guru, pure devotee NEVER really wants this post, and has to be asked or demanded to take up the position. Jesus Christ asked Krsna to remove this cup(austerity) from him. Srila Prabhupada had Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Maharaj appear several times to him in dreams to take sannyasa and take up this mission of preaching. Prabhupada said  he was "horrified", because why? He KNEW, just as did Christ, the responsibility connected to this task. But for foolish devotees who have no idea of the mountain of sins they will have to incur and suffer for, and who dont possess the spiritual power to nullify these sins, for them, all they "see" is "profit, adoration ,and distinction" as gurus--all massive pitfalls on the road to Vaikuntha.
So these motivated individuals bypas this important instruction and like King Paundraka did, "assume" the title of acarya, by falsely "thinking" they are qualified
11) All Temple Presidents In the past Temple Presidents have written to Srila Prabhupada recommending a particular devotee's initiation. Now that Srila Prabhupada has named these representatives,[ritviks] Temple Presidents may henceforward send recommendation for first and second initiation to whichever of these eleven representatives are nearest their temple. After considering the recommendation, these representatives may accept the devotee as an initiated disciple of Srila Prabhupada by giving a
spiritual name, or in the case of second initiation, by chanting on the Gayatri thread, just as Srila Prabhupada has done. The newly initiated devotees are disciples of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad, the above eleven senior devotees acting
as His representative.
After the Temple President receives a letter from these representatives giving the spiritual name or the thread, he
can perform the fire yajna in the temple as was being done before. The name of a newly initiated disciple should be sent by the representative who has acceted him or her to Srila Prabhupada, to be included in His Divine Grace's "Initiated Disciples" book.
Letter to al GBC, all TP - Vrindavana 9 July, 1977

So in conclusion to this paper, we have included  just one of many documents in letter form which Srila Prabhupada sent out to his leading disciples worldwide regarding how to continue the process of initiations after he departed from us. It is clear english, and anybody who reads this letter and several others  like it, will honestly conclude that this DOCUMENT is very important as to how the Hare Krsna Movement would continue. This document is only one way Srila Prabhupada made the point the REAL POINT (as mentioned above) how he wanted things to continue. He was to be the acarya, and he would continue to initiate into the future new disciples after he was physically gone. I have included the above quotes to substantiate this final document. The above mentioned quotes give the principle of guru tattva, and this letter gives the physical details of HOW it was to be done.
12) The Liberation of Sarvabhauma Bhattacary  In this verse from Srimad-Bhagavatam (11.22.4), the Supreme Personality of Godhead explains that His illusory energy can perform the impossible; such is the power of the illusory energy. In many cases philosophical speculators have covered the real truth and have boldly set forth false theories. In ancient times philosophers like Kapila, Gautama, Jaimini, Kanada and similar brahmanas propounded useless philosophical theories, and in modern days so-called scientists are setting forth many false theories about the creation, backed up by seemingly logical arguments. This is all due to the influence of the Supreme Lord's illusory energy. The illusory energy, therefore, sometimes appears correct because it is emanating from the Supreme Correct. To avoid the very bewildering illusory influence, one must accept the words of the Supreme Personality of Godhead as they are. Only then can one escape the influence of the illusory energy.
Caitanya Critamrita, Madhaya-lila 6.109

Hare Krsna
