Srila Prabhupada:"They're living in Naraka-kunda."

By:
 Damaghosa das

Srila Prabhupada conversation June 6, 1976

Devotee: Because sadhana-bhakti is a gradual process, they immediately want the highest perfection quickly.
Srila Prabhupada: That is the danger. But if they at once go to rasa-lila, because they are not trained up neither they are liberated, they'll think this rasa-lila is just like our young boys, young girls mix   together, have sex like that. So it is supported our.... "Why should
we restrict to no illicit sex, no this, no rules and regulations? We  shall do all nonsense." That's all. And become a gopi. It is very good
to aspire to become high court judge, but how you can become high court judge without qualification? That they are not thinking. They
have no qualification, they have illicit sex, pregnant, going to abortion, and they're high court judge.
Devotee: They say Ajamila had no qualification and he just chanted.
Srila Prabhupada: Ajamila had no qualification. Therefore they should have no qualification.
Devotee: They say...
Srila Prabhupada: They say. Now you accept them as authority, "They say."  What is they? What they are?
Devotee: Ajamila's qualification was he thought of Krsna at the time  of death.
Srila Prabhupada: Yes. But you cannot think.
Devotee: They want to think of the gopis at the time of death.
Devotee: Then practice.
Srila Prabhupada: What they will think of at the death, why you are conjecturing now? Their habits are rascal, they're making pregnant,
illicit sex, what they will think? Anyway, if we give indulgence to these people, then this preaching work will be hampered.
Devotee:  No, we're not going to do that.
Srila Prabhupada: Or they should be separated.  Otherwise, it will be bad example, and all restrictions will be broken.
Devotee: If they don't change their mentality, then they should live separately, do their own society.
Srila Prabhupada: And they'll do that. (japa) That sahajiya tendency is very  easy to take up.
Devotee: It seems like it's an inherent thing in...
Srila Prabhupada: Thinking of Radha-Krsna lila, that is in liberated stage,  not in the conditioned stage.
Devotee: I could never understand, Srila Prabhupada, why, I was always wondering why in all of your books you're always blasting so
much time on the sahajiyas, and I was not...
Devotee: He's thinking that this is a small group. Devotee: Yes, in India, but now I see it's an easy mentality for anyone's mind that can be adopted. That's why Srila Prabhupada was stressing.
Devotee: And as our movement gets more and more members, there will be more and more people who will be exhibiting this sahajiya tendency.
Devotee: That's why it's in every book Prabhupada speaks about it without fail.
Prabhupada: Anyway, keep your movement very pure. You don't mind if somebody goes away. Don't mind. But we must keep our principles pure.
Devotee: I always remember that you said that in the battle sometimes some men may be lost.
Srila Prabhupada: Yes, that is natural.
Devotee: Natural. Of course we don't want to lose men, but it's natural.
Devotee: Srila Prabhupada, when the devotee is in the original relationship with Krsna, his siddha-deha, why is it that he sometimes
changes his original rasa with Krsna?
Srila Prabhupada: Hm?
Devotee: Each one of us has an original relationship with Krsna, some as plant, some as tree, some as cow, some as cowherd boy So if that is re-established, why should the devotee desire to change it?
Srila Prabhupada: Well, that is spiritual kingdom. You can change if you like.
Devotee: It is not static, Prabhupada once explained. Love is not   static.
Srila Prabhupada: Generally, it is not changed. Just like mother Yasoda, she's mother all the time, eternally.
Devotee: The question came in Bombay two or three years ago. Srila Prabhupada said that it is not static. You can have (inaudible).
Devotee: I always understood before that the rasa was fixed, but that within that rasa one may take different..., one may take a
different line.
Srila Prabhupada: That will be revealed when you are liberated. Why you are bothering now?
Devotee: That's the point.
Srila Prabhupada:   A patient is thinking, "How shall I dance when I become healthy?" First of all, rascal, become healthy, then talk of all this.
The rascals are thinking like that. You are patient; first of all cure your disease, material disease. Then talk of all this. Utopian. "When
I will get rich, how I shall treat.... I shall.... Then my wife is disobedient and I shall kick her like this," (laughter) and as soon as
he kicked on the earthen pots, all broken. Then he, "Oh, then my....All prospects have gone." You know this story?
Devotee: What was in the pot?
Srila Prabhupada: That.... A potter, potter boy, he had got some earthen   pots selling. So he was dreaming, that "By selling this earthen pot,
I'll make so much profit. Then I shall purchase another batch, I shall make profit. In this way, I shall be millionaire. Then I shall marry,
and my wife must be very obedient. Otherwise I shall kick." So in this way, he kicked over the pots and (laughs) all of them broken.
Devotee: And in the end, nothing.
Srila Prabhupada: That's all.
Devotee: So by his dreaming he, he...
Srila Prabhupada: Yes, first of all be rich man, then do all things, how you shall kick your wife. This is going on. Caitanya Mahaprabhu said that
"My Guru Maharaja found Me rascal number one; therefore he ordered, 'You cannot study Vedanta. You chant Hare Krsna.' " They will not read this portion. That Caitanya Mahaprabhu, He posed Himself as a rascal.
Devotee: But they prefer to read about all the ecstatic symptoms on Caitanya Mahaprabhu's body
Srila Prabhupada: That's all right. That.... Be, first of all bona fide.  That is good ambition. But how this good ambition can fulfill when you
are a potter, poor man? Actually be rich, and then kick your wife. And without being rich, if you think all this nonsense, you're spoiling
time. (japa)
Devotee: Srila Prabhupada, some devotees, sometimes they feel that in ISKCON we're talking so much about the business of how to spread
Krsna consciousness, but we're not talking enough about Krsna's pastimes, krsna-katha, they say. So that's another reason why they
want to read all these pastimes.
Srila Prabhupada: Then let them read. What kind of krsna-katha? The krsna-katha test is as soon as he'll get the taste, he'll lose this
taste. That is the... What is this nonsense?
Devotee: Won't it purify them? That's what they say, "It will purify me."
Srila Prabhupada: What you are purified? You have become a, what is called, putrefied, not purified.
Devotees: Jaya, Prabhupada.
Devotee: You can become purified, and sometimes you can increase your...
Srila Prabhupada: No, no. You can read. Be purified. You can read. But where is your purification?
Devotee: Putrefaction.
Srila  PrabhupadaThe books are there for reading. By reading, you become purified. (break) In 1935, our Guru Maharaja, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, he went to Radha-kunda for karttika-vrata. So at that time he was reading Upanisads. So first of all, these babajis they were coming. Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati had come at Radha-kunda.   He's giving some class. So they used to come. But as soon as they saw that he was reading Upanisads, they stopped coming. They saw: "They  are jnanis, they are not bhaktas."
Devotee: What did they want to hear? Dasama-skandha?
Srila Prabhupada: Like that. So Prabhupada condemned them that "They are not
living in Radha-kunda They're living in Naraka-kunda." I heard it,
"They're living in Naraka-kunda."(means hell, not Vaikuntha)
Conclusions-
None of us are liberated souls, but simply simple aspiring bhaktas who are trying to become pure liberated souls.
And the proof is stated thrice above by Srila Prabhupada -- liberated stage one can know his own eteranl rasa or think of Radha Krishna lila, not before, otherwise you will become a sahajiya, or a cheap bhakta who has taken cheating to be truth.
Therefore Caitanya Mahaprabhu has told us to just chant Hare Krishna mantra--do that perfectly, no matter how many lifetimes it takes, THEN., we will become qualified to listen and enter into Radha Krishna lila, without becomming sahajiya bhaktas. And most importantly the real preaching work has been stopped all due to this sahajiya tendency. Therefore the ISKCON temples are devoid of Prabhupada's real disciples.

Fools Rush In Where Angels Fear to Tread

compiled by gaurangasundar dasa
Yes you can print one copy… Not for distribution….
They are not devotees… Liberated for going to hell.

Prabhupada: My Guru Maharaja wanted to publish Govinda-lilamrta. He asked permission of Bhaktivinoda Thakura. So first of all Bhaktivinoda Thakura, “I’ll tell you some day.” And when he reminded, he said, “Yes you can print one copy. If you are so much anxious to print it, print one copy. You’ll read and you will see that you have printed. Not for distribution .” So we are printing all these books for understanding properly. Not that “Here is Radha-kunda. Let us go.” Jump over like monkey. “Here is rasa-lila. Immediately…”
Acyutananda: Even in Krsna book rasa-lila should not be told in public.
Prabhupada: No, why? Krsna book must be there, in the book must be there.
Acyutananda: But in public…
Prabhupada: But you should go gradually. You should go gradually. You first of all understand Krsna, then krsna-lila. If you have not understood Krsna, then you’ll think Krsna’s rasa-lila is just like we mix with young women. And that becomes as polluted. Because they do not understand Krsna. Manusyanam sahasresu kascid yatati siddhaye yatatam api siddhanam. Krsna understanding so easy? If you do not understand Krsna how can you go to the Krsna’s confidential activities?
Acyutananda: Some of the devotees, they said that it is for liberated souls. So they said, “Well, we are all liberated.”
Prabhupada: Yes. Liberated for going to hell .
Devotee: In your Krsna book, Srila Prabhupada, you’ve given such clear explanations along with the stories of Krsna that it’s very difficult to misinterpret, because you use such clear explanation.
Prabhupada: No, you read all the books first of all. Then you’ll be able to understand.
Yasomatinandana: Even theoretical understanding that Krsna is transcendental will not help unless one…
Prabhupada: Because Krsna will lift, samaste, Krsna lifted the hill. Now how you can become equal with Krsna?
Devotee: Srila Prabhupada, what about if some devotees, I know they want to come to Vrndavana…
Prabhupada: Every devotee, they must follow the rules and regulations, that’s all.
Devotee: And engage in practical service to Krsna.

Prabhupada: Yes. Guru-mukha-padma-vakya cittete kariya aikya ara na kariha mane asa. Has he taken order from Guru Maharaja that “I am going to jump over Radha-kunda”? Why does he go? Daily singing, guru-mukha-padma-vakya cittete, ara na kariha. Why should he desire like that?

Gopala Krsna: There are some devotees who always want…

Prabhupada: They are not devotees. Rascals. Don’t say “some devotees.” Devotees will hear: guru-mukha-padma-vakya cittete kariya aikya ara na kariha mane.

There is no need to read such a high standard of transcendental literature

Sri Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura comments in this connection that such feelings of separation as Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu enjoyed from the books of Vidyapati, Candidasa and Jayadeva are especially reserved for persons like Sri Ramananda Raya and Svarupa Damodara, who were paramahamsas , men of the topmost perfection, because of their advanced spiritual consciousness. Such topics are not to be discussed by ordinary persons imitating the activities of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu . For critical students of mundane poetry and literary men without God consciousness who are after bodily sense gratification, there is no need to read such a high standard of transcendental literature . Persons who are after sense gratification should not try to imitate raganuga devotional service. In their songs, Candidasa, Vidyapati and Jayadeva have described the transcendental activities of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Mundane reviewers of the songs of Vidyapati, Jayadeva and Candidasa simply help people in general become debauchees, and this leads only to social scandals and atheism in the world. One should not misunderstand the pastimes of Radha and Krsna to be the activities of a mundane young boy and girl. The mundane sexual activities of young boys and girls are most abominable. Therefore, those who are in bodily consciousness and who desire sense gratification are forbidden to indulge in discussions of the transcendental pastimes of Sri Radha and Krsna .

[Srila Prabhupada from Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi-lila 13.42 ]

Tamala Krsna.: Pradyumna. Pradyumna is carrying out a single-handed investigation. Pradyumna has become an investigator. He goes around everywhere (laughs) investigating the sahajiyas. I hope he doesn’t become won over.
Prabhupada: He was.
Tamala Krsna:. Yes, I know, that’s why he’s doing it. He was once like that.
Prabhupada: He was smarta.
Ramesvara: Pandita, you used to call him pandita.
Tamala Krsna: Sometimes Prabhupada would tell him he was a smarta.
Ramesvara: He’s always carrying an armful of books.
Prabhupada: Smarta is also counted amongst the sahajiyas.
Tamala Krsna: He was really…. That’s another problem, Prabhupada. All of these boys that take part in this Sanskrit-Bengali translation department, they all become like this, because they read these other books. As soon as they learn Bengali and Sanskrit, they start reading so many books.
Prabhupada: Aula baula, karttabhaja, neda, daravesa, sani sahajiya, sakhibheki, smarta, jata-gosani. They are all counted in one group.
Tamala Krsna: One thing I’ve noticed, Srila Prabhupada, and I see it as a direct link, that most of these people who get involved like this, they’re not engaged in active preaching work, and because of it, their mind has time to create these fantasies and get attracted. Someone who’s engaged in forcefully preaching…
Ramesvara: He has to be more practical.
Tamala Krsna: Yes. Practical and purified by the activity. Have you noticed that? That these people who are engaged, they’re all in the Press, or all day writing, or something like this.

[Srila Prabhupada from a Morning Walk, June 7, 1976, Los Angeles]

One should not associate with these apa-sampradaya communities.

In the parampara system, the instructions taken from the bona fide spiritual master must also be based on revealed Vedic scriptures. One who is in the line of disciplic succession cannot manufacture his own way of behavior . There are many so-called followers of the Vaisnava cult in the line of Caitanya Mahaprabhu who do not scrupulously follow the conclusions of the sastras, and therefore they are considered to be apa-sampradaya, which means “outside of the sampradaya.” Some of these groups are known as aula, baula, kartabhaja, neda, daravesa, sani sahajiya, sakhibheki, smarta, jata-gosani, ativadi, cudadhari and gauranga-nagari. In order to follow strictly the disciplic succession of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, one should not associate with these apa-sampradaya communities.

[Srila Prabhupada from Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi-lila 7.48]

No learned man should be willing to hear a person who does not represent the original acarya

TRANSLATION: On hearing Suta Gosvami speak thus, Saunaka Muni, who was the elderly, learned leader of all the rsis engaged in that prolonged sacrificial ceremony, congratulated Suta Gosvami by addressing him as follows.

PURPORT: In a meeting of learned men, when there are congratulations or addresses for the speaker, the qualifications of the congratulator should be as follows. He must be the leader of the house and an elderly man. He must be vastly learned also. Sri Saunaka Rsi had all these qualifications, and thus he stood up to congratulate Sri Suta Gosvami when he expressed his desire to present Srimad-Bhagavatam exactly as he heard it from Sukadeva Gosvami and also realized it personally. Personal realization does not mean that one should, out of vanity, attempt to show one’s own learning by trying to surpass the previous acarya. He must have full confidence in the previous acarya, and at the same time he must realize the subject matter so nicely that he can present the matter for the particular circumstances in a suitable manner.

The original purpose of the text must be maintained. No obscure meaning should be screwed out of it, yet it should be presented in an interesting manner for the understanding of the audience. This is called realization. The leader of the assembly, Saunaka, could estimate the value of the speaker, Sri Suta Gosvami, simply by his uttering yathadhitam and yatha-mati, and therefore he was very glad to congratulate him in ecstasy. No learned man should be willing to hear a person who does not represent the original acarya. So the speaker and the audience were bona fide in this meeting where Bhagavatam was being recited for the second time. That should be the standard of recitation of Bhagavatam, so that the real purpose can be served without difficulty. Unless this situation is created, Bhagavatam recitation for extraneous purposes is useless labor both for the speaker and for the audience.

[Srila Prabhupada from Srimad Bhagavatam 1.4.1]

“It is important that we preach the message of Krishna consciousness EXACTLY as we have heard it from OUR spiritual master. The same philosophy and spirit must be there.” (Letter to Sivanananda dated 1-23-69)
