The Vancouver Krishna Balaram Mandir celebrated Sri Krishna Janmastami starting at 6 pm to 12 midnight yesterday, August 17, 2014. More devotees and congregational members participated in this auspicious event compared to last year. Some devotees came as early as 1:00 pm to help with the preparation of garlands, decorating abhiseka table, cooking, and decorating the temple room. From the start of the celebration to its finale, there was continuous glorification of Lord Krishna by doing kirtans, arati, reading the pastimes of the Lord, abhiseka, offering of bhoga and one special bhajanas performed by using modern and traditional instruments.
Past 12:00 midnight, the devotees finally enjoyed a feast of ekadasi preparations offered to Krishna Balaram. There were 12 different kinds of sweets including cake, prepared for the satisfaction of the Lord. The non-ekadasi Prasadam was also available starting at 7:00 pm for those congregational members who were not fasting.
We, at Krishna Balaram Mandir would like to sincerely thank from the bottom of our hearts all the devotees that helped us in making this celebration a pure success. The following morning, we celebrated the appearance day of our dear most spiritual master His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. This time is was just my family members only. When the time came for offering our homages to Srila Prabhupada it was so intense that each of us became very emotional since we felt the presence of Srila Prabhupada listening to our homages. We did not prepare anything in writing. We spoke from our hearts and every one shed tears knowing very well that we are nothing if not for Srila Prabhupada. Hare Krishna.
