Need of drafting ISKCON Constitution

Madhu Pandit Dasa on the need of drafting ISKCON Constitution - Part 1B

Difference between Deity worship and Idol worship

There is a qualitative difference between Deity worship and Idol worship as Śrīla Prabhupāda explains below…
Woman guest (2): Could you… Do you think you could explain to me about the Deities and how it’s different from idol worship? Because no one has been able to explain that to my understanding.
Prabhupāda: Idol means your imagination. And Deity is not imaginary. Deity is installed by the authorized person and it is worshiped according to authorized methods. So it is not idol. Idol worship, you imagine something and, some doll or idol, and do in your own way, that is idol worship.
Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa: She’s saying but it’s manufactured, it’s made, graven.
Prabhupāda: That doesn’t matter. But it is made according to the Vedic principles. Just like in the Vedas, Kṛṣṇa’s form is described, veṇuṁ kvaṇantam aravinda-dalāyatākṣaṁ [Bs. 5.30]. Kṛṣṇa is playing on His flute, veṇuṁ kvaṇantam. His eyes are like the petals of the lotus flower.
So if you follow the description, then it is coming from the Vedic literature or Vedic knowledge. It is not that an artistic way of imagining some idol, the eyes are like this and He must play flute. It is not like that.
Woman guest (2): That’s because it came from scriptures instead of from men’s minds.
Prabhupāda: Yes. Therefore it is authorized. When you take anything from the statute, book, that is law. And if you manufacture something, that is not law. Just like, I’ll give you one very good example. Just like in your front of your house there is U.S. letterbox.
So another man, he sees that the box is in front of his house, “Why shall I go so far? Let me manufacture a box here.” So he’s posting. After six months, he’ll see all these letters are lying there. (laughter) And one who is posting that authorized box, his letter is going to thousands and thousands of miles away. So you cannot imitate. If you imitate U.S. letterbox in front of your house and post your letters, it will never go, it will remain there.

Prabhupada you came...

This one comes from Gaura Prabhu ACBSP
Prithuputra Swami was the 1st French sannyasi. He did a lot of service for the preaching mission. But after Srila Prabhupada's physical demise he left KC and reassumed a lifestyle he led before he joined - sex, drugs rock' n' roll. He never came back. Nevertheless, he never criticised KC. Some years later he contracted AIDS. As the disease progressed he ended up in hospital, and as it progressed further he was hooked on the machines which kept him alive. During his last days he was in coma.
As he was about to die any day now doctors gathered around his bed and tried to estimate how many days - if not hours - he had left. As they discussed his condition all of a sudden Prithaputra Prabhu opened his eyes, sat up in his bed and looked towards the door. -"Prabhupada, you came...", he said. Then he layed back on his bed, closed his eyes and died. Doctors later told this story to the devotees.

ISKCON leader contradicts ISKCON Founder-Acarya!

HH Bhakti Caru Swami, ISKCON GBC voted in Guru:
"Later on, someone came up with the theory that Srila Prabhupada wanted his disciples to give initiation on his behalf as ritvik acaryas, and that all the initiates would be Srila Prabhupada's disciples. As a matter of fact, Srila Prabhupada was very much against this concept. At one point he mentioned this was the flaw of Christianity. Christianity does not accept the system of a present Guru. They think Jesus is the only one and no one is coming to give initiation, or no one is coming as acarya. Therefore, there is no system of continuation of spiritual knowledge..."
(Spiritual Connections,Vol. 13, Jan-Apr 1996, p.6)

His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder Acarya of ISKCON and living Guru:

Girl devotee:
Is Jesus in the parampara?
Srila Prabhupada:
He says, "there is God. I am son of God". That is parampara.
(Bhagavad gita Lectures 1975)

Tamal Krishna: Can a Christian in this age, without a Spiritual Master, but by reading the Bible, and following Jesus's words, reach the...
Srila Prabhupada: When you read the Bible, you follow the Spiritual Master. How can you say without? As soon as you read the Bible, that means you are following the instruction of Lord Jesus Christ. That means that you are following the Spiritual Master.
Tamal Krishna: I was referring to a living Spiritual Master.
Srila Prabhupada: Spiritual Master is not question of...Spiritual Master is eternal...[...] As you say that "by reading bible", when you read Bible that means you are following the Spiritual Master represented by some priest or some clergyman in the line of Lord Jesus Christ.
(Morning Walk, Seattle, 2.10.68.)
Srila Prabhupada: Actually, one who is guided by Jesus will certainly get liberation.
(Perfect Questions, Perfect Answers, chapter 9)

Srila Prabhupada: "This is called Guru parampara, disciplic succession..This is our process. We are getting knowledge from Krsna, the most perfect. Or you get knowledge from Jesus Christ, that is also perfect, because source is perfect."
(Conversation, Germany 19.6.74)

"You must follow one acarya, like Christians, they follow Christ, acarya. [...] You must follow some acarya ... Evam parampara praptam."
(Room Conversation, Melbourne, May 20th, 1975)
